Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

First determine the number of cubic yards (volume) that you need, and then convert this quantity into tons (weight).

To calculate cubic yards, measure (in feet) the length, width, and depth of your project area. Multiply these three measurements, and then divide the result by 27 (length x width x depth / 27 = cubic yards). If you have an odd-shaped area, break it down into rectangular or square shapes and calculate each area one at a time.

Next, since sand and gravel is typically sold by weight (rather than volume), you need to convert the number of cubic yards into tons based on a conversion factor that accounts for the density of the specific product. To convert cubic yards to tons, multiply cubic yards by the conversion factor. Conversion factors for all of our products can be found on our price list.

You can use the calculator below to determine cubic yards for different shapes of project area, and then use our conversion factors to convert into tons.

A project area measuring 20’ x 10’ x 5’ has a volume of 1,000 cubic feet. Dividing 1,000 cubic feet by 27 results in 37 cubic yards. If your project calls for Road Mix ¾”, you would multiply 37 cubic yards by the conversion factor of 1.31, resulting in 48 ½ tons.

Yes, we can deliver your materials when and where you need them!

Our delivery fleet includes single dump trucks, trucks and pups, end dumps, and belly dumps. Single dump trucks carry up to approximately 15 tons of material, and our larger trucks carry up to approximately 28 tons.

Delivery rates are based on truck size (single or double load) and the round-trip driving time between our pit and your location. Please call our dispatch at (208) 368-0100 for a quote, or to schedule a delivery.

Our drivers make every effort to place your material where you need it, however, our trucks are large and require ample room to maneuver and turn around (the turning radius for a single is 35', and a double is 70').  Also, please let our drivers know if you have low hanging power lines or branches.

We are unable to provide any spreading services.

If you are coming to our pit to pick up your material, please stop by the scale house to get your truck and trailer tare weight (unladen weight), and for instructions on where to get loaded.
